Horizontal distribution

From PANGAEA Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Data, if distributed irregular on a horizontal plane, e.g. data from surface sediment samples may be imported with relation to the event label or fully georeference, including geographical coordinates in the data matrix. In most cases, the data set should include the third spatial dimension, e.g. depth in sediment.

Metadata

The events need to be defined in the event table. Use the import form for the upload of a list of events.

  • Name of the sampling point (LabelEvent)
  • Area (of investigation, e.g. Equatorial Atlantic or Lake Baikal)
  • Abbreviation of the device (e.g. BC for box corer)
  • Latitude (LatitudeEvent)
  • Longitude (LongitudeEvent)
  • Date of sampling (DateEvent)
  • Time of sampling (TimeEvent)
  • Campaign of sampling (Campaign)
  • any remarks

Data

Data are organized in lines per event. Event label, latitude, longitude (and depth) are configured into the data set.

  1. Column: Event label
  2. Column: Depth, sediment (1) or other geocode
  3. to n. Column: Data (parameter name [unit] or ID of parameter)
