Tape drive storage used by Pangaea for the archiving of large data sets and backup

Backup of the data library includes web server, relational database and tape drive storage (see image). The system has a daily incremental backup and a weekly full backup in two different buildings which are 1 km apart. Metadata are mirrored in addition on the 4D server which is used for the editorial system. The 4D server itself has a backup mirror on hard drives, operated through an internal raid system.
