1. DSDP/ODP and IODP data general information:

Deep-sea drilling project databases evolved from

• DSDP – Deep Sea Drilling Project (1968 - 1983)

• ODP – Ocean Drilling Program (1983 - 2003)

• IODP – Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (2003 - 2013)

• IODP – International Ocean Discovery Program (2013 - 2024)

• IODP3 – International Ocean Drilling Program (since 2025)

Legacy databases from DSDP/ODP still online (JANUS)

2. Three separate platform provider:

JOIDES Resolution Science Operator (JRSO)/U.S. Implementing Organization (USIO)

operates expeditions with the JOIDES Resolution.

Center for Deep Earth Exploration (CDEX)

operates expeditions with the Deep Sea Drilling Vessel Chikyu.

ECORD Science Operator (ESO)

operates expeditions using Mission-Specific Platforms.

Each platform provider uses its own drilling platform & internal data management system!

3. Data Access → primarily via the websites of the respective platform provider:

Finding IODP data:
