PANGAEA XML schema

Field names as given in the PANGAEA Extensible Markup Language (XML) schema can be used for specific queries using the PANGAEA search engine. Queries are not case sensitive and can be combined by boolean operators. A blank is equivalent to AND, use the minus sign (-) to exclude specifications. See also the Help function of PangaVista.

Not all fields are searchable this way (e.g., numeric fields aren't). For some fields a different syntax is required. "attribute" and "reference" need to be searched using the actual names of attributes or the relation type, e.g. "relatedto:".
