Horizontal profile
Horizontal profiles are imported fully georeferenced, which means, that three spatial coordinates (and optional date/time) are included for each line of measurements. A good example for horizontal profiles are ships tracks.
Metadata
The profile needs to be defined in the event table. For a single profile send information as free text; otherwise use the import form for the upload of a list of profiles.
- Name of the profile (LabelEvent)
- Area (of investigation, e.g. Equatorial Atlantic or Lake Baikal)
- Abbreviation of the device (e.g. SEIS for seismic profile)
- Latitude (LatitudeEvent ) (start of profile)
- Longitude (LongitudeEvent )
- Latitude (LatitudeEvent2 ) (end of profile)
- Longitude (LongitudeEvent2 )
- Date of sampling (DateEvent) (start)
- Time of sampling (TimeEvent)
- Date of sampling (DateEvent2) (end)
- Time of sampling (TimeEvent2)
- Campaign of sampling (Campaign)
- any remarks
Data
Granularity of data sets may follow categories, e.g. all benthic foraminifera or all physical properties data in one set. Data of several profiles with the same parameter and structure may be provided in one file, cores following sequentialy one below the other.
- Column: Event label
- Column: Latitude (1600)
- Column: Longitude (1601)
- Column: Date/time (1599)
- optional geocodes: Depth, water (1619) or Altitude (4607) or Elevation (8128)
- optional metadata columns: e.g. Speed [kn] (2960) or Course [deg] (2961)
- 1 to n data columns: parameter name [unit] or ID of parameter
